During October, Meghalaya is at its magical best. The rains have bowed out, but the waterfalls haven’t. Hidden trails once washed out by the monsoon are now safe and waiting to be explored. Rivers turn glass-clear, the skies stretch endlessly above, and the forests glow a rich, vibrant green. It’s that perfect in-between—no soggy shoes, no winter bite.
Itinerary
DAY 1
- Begin your scenic drive into Meghalaya, trading the cityscape for rolling hills and emerald valleys.
- En route, pause to savor seasonal fruits from roadside stalls run by Khasi women—sweet introductions to Meghalaya’s warmth.
- Reach the quiet village of Mawlyngbna near Mawsynram—home to serene forests and age-old traditions.
- Spend a slow, cozy evening unwinding with a locally cooked dinner and chats with your new travel crew.
DAY 2
- Begin your day with a short guided hike to a spectacular offbeat landscape—a teaser for what’s to come.
- Dive straight into river canyoning: scramble, wade, float, and leap your way through gorges and river trails. No swimming skills needed—just trust and thrill!
- After a well-earned high, switch pace with a kayaking session on a calm reservoir, soaking in Meghalaya’s serene side.
- Enjoy a homely lunch prepared by locals—vegetarian and Jain-friendly options included.
- Transfer to Cherrapunjee and settle into your accommodation surrounded by mist and waterfalls.
DAY 3
- Join your ED local guide and storyteller for an immersive day around Cherrapunjee, known locally as Sohra.
- Begin with a morning hike through forest trails to discover a secluded waterfall and natural pool—perfect for dipping or just daydreaming.
- Post lunch, explore some of Cherrapunjee’s most stunning yet under-the-radar caves and scenic waterfalls.
- Wind down the day at a hidden viewpoint, watching the sun melt into the hills—a magical end to your Meghalaya day.
- Enjoy a relaxed evening around the bonfire, swapping stories and soaking in the mountain air.
DAY 4
- Start your day with a curated hike through forests and villages to visit 3–4 living root bridges, natural marvels handcrafted over generations.
- Along the way, interact with locals and learn about their connection to these landscapes.
- Visit Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village, and admire its sustainable way of life.
- Enjoy a curated forest lunch in a dreamy natural setting—sit, eat, and meditate to the sounds of the trees.
- In the evening, gather for a local music showcase—folk traditions meet modern rhythms in a soul-lifting experience.
DAY 5
- Kick off the day with a boat ride on the crystal-clear Umngot River, followed by a swim in its inviting waters.
- Embark on a guided hike along the river to Amkoi, a lesser-known paradise with dramatic rock formations, pristine pools, and optional cliff-jumping for the brave-hearted.
- After a nature-filled afternoon, arrive in Shnongpdeng and where your camps are set beside the river.
- Spend the evening around a campfire, with the sound of water and stars above—an unforgettable night in the wild.
Day 6
- After breakfast, drive through the scenic Jaintia Hills, stopping to explore Phe Phe and Krangsuri waterfalls tumbling through wild, green cliffs.
- Reach Shillong in the evening and check into your accommodation.
- The evening is yours to explore: choose between cozy cafés, buzzing pubs, or catching a live gig in India’s Rock Capital.
- Get our curated recommendations based on your vibe—romantic rooftop, indie music bar, or comfort food café.
Day 7
- Wake early and drive to the stunning Laitlum Canyons if you will—watch the sun rise over vast misty valleys, one last breath of Meghalaya’s magic.
- Have breakfast with a view before heading back toward Guwahati.
- Transfer to Guwahati Airport and bid farewell to your travel fam—bags a little heavier, hearts a lot fuller.

FAQs
Arrival at Guwahati airport on Day 1 by 10:30 am at the latest
Departure from Guwahati airport as well. It is recommended to book an evening flight after 6 pm just to be on the safe side. In case the travellers want to fly out next day (which is great), stay can be arranged in Guwahati for them on request.
We will be staying in a mix of beautiful home stays, hotels and resorts. For group trips we stay in basic highly rated properties. You shouldn’t expect any kind of luxury but all essential things you may need is available and the properties are super clean, hygienic and comfortable. All these properties have been carefully been vetted by team ED.
Please note that some of the properties may have different category of rooms and the allocation will be done randomly.
If you wish to stay at a more luxurious property of your choice or ED’s recommendation, we recommend you enquire with us for a custom made trip.
All properties have a breakfast menu you can choose from. Cost of all breakfasts are included in your package. Breakfast in most places serve simple things like poori sabji, fresh sandwiches, toasted bread butter jam, Eggs (how ever you want), tea/coffee etc.
Included lunches will be mostly home cooked food like Rice, dal, few local chutneys, vegetable curry, meat, salad and papad. Places like Shillong, Cherrapunjee and Pongtung have multi cuisine restaurants.
Veg/Jain food is available in our tours on request.
If you have dietary restrictions, do let us know in advance and we promise to take care of you.
Major expense is the to and fro Flight to the starting and ending point of the trip.
Other expenses during the trip is mostly the meals that aren’t included which will cost you not more than Rs 300 per meal, alcohol and recreational expenses and shopping expenses.

Your primary day of water activities will be at Mawlyngbna. Unless there is torrential rain, the activities will go on as it is.
In the case of heavy rainfall, we will have an alternate plan for the day and the guide will take a call based on the activities open
