Itinerary

DAY 1

  • Your ED Pilot will receive you at the Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, and with warm hellos, your journey into the Eastern Himalayas begins.
  • Today’s destination is Shergaon — a hidden gem tucked into the folds of West Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh. The six-hour drive gently shifts from busy towns to pine-covered hills, with changing skies and quiet forests accompanying you.
  • We pause along the way for a hearty local lunch at a roadside dhaba — simple, satisfying, and full of flavor.
  • By late afternoon, as the sun begins to dip behind the hills, we roll into Shergaon. The village welcomes you with crisp air and the scent of pine.
  • Settle into your charming homestay and soak in the hush of the highlands — a perfect, peaceful start to your journey.

DAY 2

  • Wake up to the scent of pine and soft golden light spilling through the hills. Morning tea and a simple breakfast to ease into the day.
  • Begin the journey towards Mandala Top, perched at nearly 10,000 feet, where 108 whitewashed stupas line the ridge in silent prayer — each built by a local family, a symbol of faith and belonging.
  • From Mandala, descend into the little-known valley of Chug — a village so remote it feels like time forgot it.
  • For lunch, sit down to a fine-dining experience curated with the community — heirloom Monpa recipes, thoughtfully plated with indigenous ingredients, served in a rustic village courtyard.
  • After lunch, take a slow walk through forested trails and quiet paths of Chug with our local guide — a chance to listen, learn, and simply be.
  • As evening draws near, drive onward to Dirang and check in. Let the stillness of the mountains lull you into rest.

DAY 3

  • After a hearty breakfast, we begin our ascent to Tawang — one of Arunachal’s most storied highland towns.
  • The journey winds through changing mountain landscapes until we reach the legendary Sela Pass, standing tall at nearly 16,000 feet. With fluttering prayer flags and the still waters of Sela Lake, the air here carries the hush of reverence.
  • Nearby, a modest army café offers a comforting pause — hot chai, simple snacks, and warm smiles in the crisp, thin air.
  • On the descent, we pause at Jung Falls — a thunderous yet graceful cascade hidden among forested cliffs, where water becomes poetry in motion.
  • By evening, we reach Tawang. A town where silence lingers in the air, and every rooftop seems to touch the sky. The evening is yours — explore a quiet café, stroll through the streets, or simply wrap yourself in wool and rest.

DAY 4

  • Wake to a quiet morning in the mountains, where the scent of pine lingers and soft light brushes across monastery roofs.
  • After breakfast, we set out toward the mystical high-altitude lakes that lie on the road to Bumla, near the Indo-China border.
  • These alpine mirrors, scattered between ridgelines and sky, reflect more than just clouds. Some are whispered about only in local lore, while one found a fleeting moment on the silver screen. But none can be fully captured.
  • By late afternoon, we return to Tawang. The rest of the day is yours: curl up in a hillside café, stroll through prayer-flagged paths, or simply be still as dusk settles gently over the town.

DAY 5

  • Begin the morning with a visit to the iconic Tawang Monastery, the second-largest in India. Its vast prayer halls and golden rooftops echo with centuries of devotion.
  • Depending on your interest, we can explore a few more local gems around Tawang before bidding farewell to this mystical town.
  • After breakfast and morning tea, we start our return journey to Dirang.
  • On the way, we stop at Chakzam Bridge. Built nearly 400 years ago by a Tibetan monk, this ancient iron suspension bridge stretches across a deep gorge and stands as a powerful reminder of the region’s heritage and resilience.
  • Reach Dirang and visit its hilltop monastery, a beautifully located space of calm and prayer. It is especially magical at sunset when the sky turns golden and prayer flags dance in the breeze.
  • Let the evening unfold slowly, with time to pause, reflect, and soak in the mountain quiet from your retreat in Dirang.

Day 6

  • Morning tea and breakfast amidst the cool mountain air.
  • After breakfast, we begin our descent from the highlands of Arunachal, making our way to a hidden tea estate near Kaziranga—a place where time slows down and the scent of leaves lingers in the breeze.
  • This boutique plantation stay blends heritage bungalows with curated experiences for tea lovers and curious wanderers alike.
  • It’s the perfect transition—from the rugged rhythms of the hills to Assam’s warm, rolling plains.
  • Spend your afternoon at leisure. Walk through the estate, sip freshly brewed blends, or simply sit back and listen to birdsong.

Day 7

  • Today, we gently close the chapter on Arunachal and begin a new one—welcoming the wild, untamed beauty of Assam.
  • The drive to Kaziranga unfolds through changing landscapes, with spontaneous stops at scenic bends and sleepy roadside towns.
  • Along the way, we’ll pause for a hearty local lunch—our curated list of rustic dhabas and hidden food spots awaits.
  • By late afternoon, arrive at your lodge nestled close to the jungle’s edge.
  • Let the evening be slow. Sip some chai, listen to the hum of forest life, and settle into the rhythm of the wild.

Day 8

  • Rise with the sun and step into the wilderness with an early morning Elephant Safari in the Western Range. From atop your gentle companion, watch rhinos graze, deer dart through mist-laced grasslands, and the jungle awaken in silence.
  • Return for a hearty breakfast and freshen up.
  • Mid-morning, embark on a Jeep Safari in the Central Range, where wetlands, tall elephant grass, and thick woods set the stage for thrilling encounters—with wild buffaloes, swamp deer, and perhaps even the elusive tiger.
  • After a wild morning, slow down with a special cultural experience—visit a local home to learn about traditional rice beer-making, followed by a tasting session.
  • Sit down for a lovingly prepared Assamese lunch with fresh, local ingredients.
  • Optional (on request): As the day winds down, venture out again for a sunset Jeep Safari in the Western Range, when the golden light dances across the forest and wildlife stirs for the night.
  • Return to your stay, and wind down with an intimate ethnic dinner hosted by a women-led self-help group—a soulful finale to your day in Kaziranga.

Day 9

  • Wake up to the quiet rhythm of the forest one last time. Enjoy a slow breakfast surrounded by greenery, letting the stillness of Kaziranga linger just a bit longer.
  • After checking out, begin your drive back to Guwahati.
  • Along the way, we’ll take a few scenic breaks—stop at charming roadside tea stalls, quiet riverbanks, or open paddy fields that shimmer in the sun.
  • Lunch en route at a local eatery, carefully chosen for its regional flavours and fresh fare.
  • Reach Guwahati by evening. We’ll drop you at the airport or railway station as per your travel plans—with hearts fuller, spirits lighter, and a thousand stories etched into memory.
