Itinerary
DAY 1
- Depart early from Shillong for a scenic 2.5–3 hour drive to Tyrna village — the gateway to some of Meghalaya’s most legendary treks.
- Drive to Laitlum Canyons enroute to witness one of the most enthralling views of Meghalaya.
- Arrive at Tyrna, and begin your descent of 3,000+ stairs through lush tropical forest, passing bamboo groves and hanging bridges.
- Arrive at the incredible Double-Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat — a natural marvel grown over centuries by Khasi villagers using aerial roots of rubber trees.
- Cool off in the turquoise pools that flow beneath the bridge and soak in the surreal atmosphere.After a short rest and light lunch, continue trekking deeper into the forest to reach Rainbow Falls—a stunning, thundering waterfall tucked deep in the wilderness. Mist rises into beams of sunlight, casting vivid rainbows over the emerald pool below.
- Spend time here swimming, relaxing, or simply soaking in the raw beauty of the place, before returning to Nongriat by late afternoon.
- Overnight in a rustic village homestay, where you’ll be served a warm home-cooked meal and fall asleep to the rhythm of the jungle.
DAY 2
- Wake up to the sounds of the forest and enjoy a simple, hearty breakfast in the village.
- Spend your morning bathing and unwinding in the crystal-clear pools beneath the Double-Decker Living Root Bridge — the water is cool, refreshing, and surrounded by thick jungle.
- Wander the surrounding forest trails or simply sit and soak in the peaceful atmosphere one last time.
