Your city – Guwahati airport – Cherrapunjee
Tales of Meghalaya will begin in the wettest place on the planet, Cherrapunjee (locally known as Sohra) where Team ED will host you on your first day of Meghalaya group trip. We will chasing sunset, have lip smacking food while jamming and breaking the ice with fellow travellers around bonfire.
Cherrapunjee
Today team ED takes you to some of the most spectacular handpicked spots in Cherrapunjee. We will hike up to some known and some hidden waterfalls, we will do basic caving, we will picnic in beautiful spots. On availability, we will try and invite one of our local musician friend to come and jam with us in old rock classics.
Cherrapunjee – Mylliem – Pongtung
Team ED have handpicked a place which isn’t on your typical tourist map for today. A small hike of 40 mins through forest trails with sounds of whispering of birds, leaves and breeze will take you to this vast meadow between convergent of two rivers. With pockets of pine groves in between and backdrop of tropical forests, this is a perfect landscape that will surely put you in awe. Do what you like here. Be it lake side picnic, a game of football, kayaking or sunbathing in the grass!
Pongtung – Rangthillyang – Mawlynnong Village – Shnongpedeng, Dawki
One natural architectural marvel that is unique to Meghalaya is the Living root bridge. The locals build bridges from the roots of rubber tree above gushing streams in so many jungle routes across Meghalaya for the ease of trade and commute back in time.
Today we will hike deep inside the jungle in one such trail that has 5 root bridges. One of them being the longest of it’s kind in the entire world.
Shnongpedeng, Dawki – Shillong
By now you have already seen lots of crystal clear natural pools of Meghalaya but imagine a whole river that is so clear that you see the river bed as clean as a glass. Today we have lots of adventure planned in these waters.
Later half of the day is in Shillong. The capital town offers a range of experience to dive into. Underground pubs, live music performances, lip smacking food, shopping, local bakery cafes etc to name a few.
Shillong – Airport
Today marks the end of our Tales from Meghalaya journey. As we bid goodbye to all our new friends, we promise to be back with more Tales from different parts of Meghalaya.
