28th September
As and when you reach Guwahati, make your way to the location which will be sent to you closer to your date of arrival. This is where you will meet your fellow travellers for Ziro Festival of Music. The party has started!
Our team will brief you of the plan, socialise with the fellow travellers, stock up on the necessary paraphernalia etc. Brace for the coolest train journey you’ll do in CampOne bogie (more on that later). Meet us again at Guwahati railway station. Board your train at 9 pm for the overnight journey that will take you to Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh.
29th September
Wake up in Naharlagun and board the Sumos that will be waiting outside to transport (4 hours ride approximately) you to our CampOne site which is 10 mins walk from the Ziro Festival venue. By noon, after a considerably bumpy ride, you will enter the golden valley of Ziro. As you reach our camp village, check-in and start freshening up by guzzling down a mug (or many mugs) of “Apong” (the local rice beer) and various types of locally brewed wine while lip Smacking lunch awaits you (on the house). Thereafter, gear up and get ready – you have Ziro festival to go to! Spend the remainder of the day and night merry-making or just absorbing all the beauty around you. Don’t forget though- this is just Day 1 of the festival.
30th September – 2nd October
These next 3 days, immerse yourself and experience the offerings of this beautiful valley. We have curated a bunch of activities to ensure that you truly understand and experience the land as much as you can before you go back home. Time flies in Ziro and between all the walking through pine forests, singing around campfires, dancing at the festival, meeting new faces, visiting beautiful Apatani homes, jam sessions and after parties in the campsite, waddling through the mud in your gum boots, you’ll realise the beauty of coming together as one for a beautiful week in a land that will become your home away from home. Before you know it, the week will be over and you’ll be looking forward to coming back again to Ziro Festival the next year – just like we do.
3rd October
Wake up at your own time. Once fresh, make your way to the community dining area to feast on a farewell breakfast before you start making your way back home. This is your last day here at Ziro festival, at least for this time. Make the most of your remaining time bonding with your fellow campers. Thereafter, start boarding your vehicles by 10am and begin your journey back to Naharlagun Railway Station.
4th October
Wake up in Guwahati and bid farewell to your newfound family. We know of Ziro camper reunions that happen occasionally in different parts of the country.
Fun Fact- A couple that met at our campsite a few years back even ended up getting married. So don’t lose heart.
With Ziro, it’s always the beginning and not the end.
One of the best ways to explore Ziro valley is on two wheels. Feel the breeze on your face as you explore the nearby villages with us as we take you on a carefully curated guided tour to explore Ziro Valley beyond the Ziro festival. Ride through the golden paddy fields and bamboo plantations with our local experts and learn more about the Apatani community of the Lower Subansiri District in Arunachal Pradesh.
Price: INR 1500/- per person
Join our guided walks as our local experts and tour leaders walk you around Hong Basti, one of the largest villages of Asia. Learn more about the history and culture of the land and try some local food and Apong (Local rice beer) as you interact with members of the village. Make sure you carry your cameras to capture the vernacular bamboo architecture and traditional vintage items (weapons, kitchen utensils) that we will be showing you.
Price: INR 750/- per person
The Apatanis are known to be experts in making the most of their land. Discover a unique style of breeding fish in the same space as the paddy fields. For this activity, get ready to get down and dirty with your gumboots as you step into the mud and learn how to catch fish with your bare hands. That’s right! No rods, no nets, no traps- just hands. Once you catch these fish, make sure you roast and eat them as the locals do!
Price: INR 750/- per person
